HELLO MAY!

I have had the longest hiatus! A lot of things have been going on over here, and I have simply not found the energy nor time to sit down and focus. I am finally feeling like things are starting to get back to a sort of normal… So I’ve decided to pick it up again, with a slow start – by sharing some pictures of what I’ve been up to lately… Good food, London, snuggles with the pup, playtime with the Bean and everything in between!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So 2016 is here! Looking back at 2015 I realize it’s been one of the best years of my life! The main thing being that we got to meet the Bean, and we got to spend every day getting to know his weirdness, charm and all that comes with it. The H popped the big question, I said yes of course. We’ve been nowhere far away, but at the same time, it feels like we’ve traveled the world this year. Can’t wait to see what 2016 have to offer!

Here’s a shot from one of the best days this holiday – the Beans first snow day! The funniest thing was watching him try his best to catch snowflakes with his tongue, he really has to taste everything these days.

Over to New Years Eve! This is the first time I’ve hosted a full on New Years Eve dinner. The combination of cleaning house, running around with a 9-month-old on my arm and cooking a huge dinner was way stressful, but the end results made it all worth it.

EUCALYPTUS

At the moment I am in the midst of preparing for New Years Eve, we’re having some friends over for a relaxed dinner. Even if it is a relaxed dinner I have a million things to get ready for the night. It’s the first time we’re doing anything big in the dinner department in this apartment, so I’ve got prep lists everywhere (I am a bit of a listoholic). Luckily we’ve ended up with some great kitchen gear this Christmas, so I can’t wait to break in some new pots and pans tomorrow. Also, I can’t wait to have a slow New Years Eve with the little one. It was such a joy being part of his first Christmas, so his first New Years Eve will be a party!

I have a crush on eucalyptus these days, I’ve bought a couple of bundles of it for tomorrow night. Planning to create some sort of table runner like decorations. As I was looking around for some inspiration I came across too many good images to leave it alone. I wish I had enough to fill some of my vases, especially one for the kitchen. I guess one of the first things to do in 2016 is going to be throwing some eucalyptus in vases! Just have a look at these great images… Enjoy!

HELLO 2015 {FAREWELL 2014}

2014

I’ll start this all off with a collection of some of my favorites from the year that has passed. 2014 seems like the year I unknowingly grew up, not mentally, but more in the physical sense. First of all we ended up buying our first home, then I started focusing more on my photography {moving slowly towards the idea of starting my own business} and then suddenly the idea of sharing our existence with the baby bean came into play… Now, over to the year ahead of us!

We are well into the first week of the new year, and so far so good… The H is back at work and I’m back at the helm of making the baby bean happy… I have decided that making resolutions for the new year is of the table, they are always over the top and ends up being forgotten in the day-to-day life anyways. So this year I am going about it a bit differently; I’ve decided on just giving my self a couple of things to keep some focus on throughout the following year…

So this year I’ll devote some time to these 4 points of interest…

1. Make Life Organized

I have always been a fan of organizing things, I love writing lists, making systems etc. I’ve just not had it in me to always follow through… After the baby bean came into the picture though, this wish to organize life has gone from a medium priority to a high priority, this might also have something to do with the fact that I’m not allowed to work whilst being pregnant… I do feel like I have more than enough energy, so why not devote the energy to something of use?

I’m already a big fan of workflowy, and I will continue using this for all of my bigger projects… I’ve also decided to create lists for what to do, this also has something to do with my so-called pregnancy brain, I am forgetting everything these days. For example, I’ve created a weekly cleaning plan, so suddenly there are no more heavy cleaning days, I do a little bit every day and our home seems more or less generally clean which makes my mind less cluttered as well… Definitely gonna do my best to keep this up!

2. Welcome Motherhood

I’ve decided to take a step back and just enjoy the fact that I am entering the motherhood phase this year. Since I haven’t been allowed to work I’ve spent a lot of time feeling restless and a bit moody, simply because I’ve felt a bit useless without having work to go to. So my main goal is to just lean back and enjoy the last trimester and welcome motherhood with open arms. Especially the nesting bit of it, so if I manage to combine the nesting bit with the organized bit I may just have a recipe for success!

3. Homemaking

This is all about focusing on finishing off what we’ve started, and then maybe starting a couple of new things around here. This far we’ve gotten to the point where the H has used his architect skills and drawn up our space, and I’ve decided on a few solutions I want to happen asap. So now it is all about getting everything from paper to reality! Knowing that documenting life is also on my focus point list, I can promise you some visual updates as we get along!

4. Documenting Life

I am great at documenting other people, I love documenting other people. My documenting of our life is 97% phone photography, easy and quick. High on my focus list is definitely getting better at documenting our own life. Not only am I gonna get better at documenting our life, but I am going to get better at printing it as well. Some time back I got some photo books printed through Artifact Uprising, and I still love flipping through them. I can’t wait to get some lovely photo books filled with the baby bean, gonna make for great gifts for the grandparents as well!

Do you have any big plans for the new year?

A QUICK UPDATE

Here is the smallest form of quick updates to date, things are turning out different from expected here right no.

Went home to visit my family, looks pretty good in black and white…

Out of the blue, we are now expecting a tiny creature with two legs…

Slowly adjusting to the fact that Christmas is coming…

Went to check out the Handsome Family live, not at all disappointed… Amazingly fun.

Having lunch under red ceilings…

Working on my coping mechanisms, pre-baby

Saying hello to new clouds on a daily basis…

Enjoying the oddness of the city I live in…

Evening walks getting darker and darker…

Enjoying more and more midday cuddle with this creature…

That’s it for now, keeping it short for once… Besides the fact that there will be more posts related to nursery life and child designs I’ll keep the work up… I am not going back to work in quite some time, so there will be more time to devote to this, at least till the pea is out 🙂

QUICK UPDATE – NEW HOME EDITION

It has begun – the fixing of the new home! So after getting the keys, celebrating with a bottle or two of bubbles – the full on work has begun.

We have walked around our new neighborhood – enjoying the silence you suddenly get when you move just ten minutes out from the city center – but mostly we have been ripping down tons of wallpaper (I hate textured fiber glass wallpaper). Still have tons of work to do – so the posts will probably be very slow these following weeks as well. Here are some of the images I’ve gathered through the week (tiny week, more like 4 days)… Enjoy

Colors we have chosen this far is Chi (the whitest white out there, no yellow undertones), for the bedroom we have chosen a grey tone called Jade, for the dining room we have chosen the dark blue called Oslo (going to be on one wall – could get too dark if we do more of it) and for the floors we have chosen a light grey called Morgendis. I am already doing my best to figure out all the stuff we need to rip apart, remove, get new etc. Lists are being created in huge quanta. More images will come as we work our way through this… The first room we want to finish is the bedroom, so we can move in – all we need is a place to sleep when we work – right now there is nowhere to sleep… Then we are moving on to the living and dining room + the hallway before we start tackling the lower floor of this place… Can’t wait till it’s all done! (enjoying the process though)
