So here we are once more – at a ceiling post – this time it is all about the glass ceiling. I find glass ceilings quite intriguing… They can make wonders happen – atmosphere-vise., depending on what lies above. You have glass ceilings giving you a straight touch with the skies outside. This would make a city home feel like a retreat far away from the crowded streets outside. You have glass ceilings giving you a view of a roof top pool – leaving you with a feeling of being subaquatic. I could go on – but I would rather just give you a visual trip to show you why I am so intrigued by glass ceilings. Enjoy! Oh and by the way – if you are going to splurge on a glass ceiling/glass roof – be a darling to yourself and get the self-cleaning one 😉
If you are lucky you might even find Giorgio Armani crawling around on your glass ceiling, via
Here we go again – a post devoted to yet another ceiling treatment – the concrete ceiling. If you haven’t had the chance to check out my earlier ceiling posts you can check them out here, here and here.
I have shared a bit of love with you guys on concrete before. I find concrete to be an amazing textural addition to any home – if it be a wall, flooring, details and now we are here where I will share concrete ceilings with you.
A concrete ceiling has its benefits – besides being esthetically appealing of course – it is quite sound-proof, has great longevity to it and is basically maintenance free. The harsh reality though – is that it is quite the process getting it done and it is also quite a pricey process… So this is one of those – if you buy a great apartment in a great remodeled industrial building – GOOD FOR YOU!
To me the most difficult part of living with a concrete ceiling is not letting the space get to “cold”. It is important to combine a concrete ceiling with some warmer elements – just to keep the atmosphere homely.
Here is some of my favorite concrete ceiling inspiration – hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Here we go, another one of my ceiling treatment posts. If you’ve missed out on the former posts you could check them out here and here. This time it is all about the painted ceilings. Most people keep their ceiling white – but then there are the few kooky ones who take a leap of faith and paint their ceiling in the most amazing colours…
Here is a collection of beautiful painted ceilings – to inspire and evoke paint desire!
This dark lavender/mauve color combined with the turquoise ceiling is crazy – but absolutely gorgeous. And how about the heater that is painted in the same colour as the wall. via
Here you have another great colour combination, once more a turquoise ceiling, but this time combined with a more subtle colour grey. Beautiful. via
Or how about going red combined with a white room? via
This is great gor a kitchen, white tiles, concrete walls combined with a brilliantly yellow ceiling. via
Another room filled with different pops of colour, different shades of green on the doors combined with a light split tone wall and a brilliantly blue ceiling. This is once again too over the top for me to try out – but I can esthetically appreciate it – without a doubt! via
Here is a combination of white with lovely wooden floors – then to top it all off you’ve got a muted blue ceiling – making its way down the walls… Think I might be in love. via
Love the light rusty-red they have chosen for the ceiling in this room… I want a dress in that colour haha. via
To end it all – one for all of those who want a black ceiling above them… I am not one of them – but I can appreciate the esthetics of it all! via
Following up on my post about wooden ceilings – if you haven’t had the chance to read it/flip through the images you can do it here. As I said earlier – I have got a thing for ceiling treatments – and today it is all about the wallpaper ceiling. I must say I get my crave tingle quite often when I look at wallpaper – but there is always the tiny voice in my head saying “You sure about that? You know you will glue it on your wall!”… But I really haven’t considered glueing it on my ceilings (before now)!
There is something incredibly whimsical about a ceiling covered in wallpaper – kinda sets a whole room to some awe-inspiring position, where the eye doesn’t know where to look and the mind is desperately trying to figure out if it is reality, or if somehow you have just stepped into a chapter of Alice in Wonderland. And I must admit I love the visual perplexity of it all – I do not know if I am daring enough to bring that sort of confusion into my own space – but oh how I wish someone I know is!
I am a fan of blue – this room is perfectly cool – at least to my liking. The wallpaper chosen for the ceiling brings it all together perfectly, don’t you think?
And if you are completely bananas like Chloe here – why not go for a full-on wallpaper and bedding extravaganza? This is not to my liking, but it might hit home somewhere out there…
In love with this metallic wallpaper – and it goes oh so perfectly with the rest of the room.
I actually find this highly appealing – I usually don’t fall for the wallpaper going from wall to ceiling. . . But there is something about this one – maybe it is because it is not hitting the floor as well? I think that’s the thing – it doesn’t feel to consuming.
Oh my – another bulk of metal – and guess what; I like it… Combined with the Kelly Green chairs it is quite the perfect picture.
A room where I would be able to go wallpaper ceilings would be in a nursery/kids room… Then it would have to be something like this – muted yet lively.

Lately I have had a bit of a thing for different ceiling treatments – and I will focus a couple of posts on it during the next couple of weeks or so… Today I will start it all with wooden ceilings. I find wooden ceilings quite interesting – it is probably not something I would try out in my own home – but one is allowed to dream a little! Or maybe I would be able to pull of a wood ceiling? It all depends on the wood, the colour, the treatment of the wood and of course the rest of the room! Amount of light coming through, colour of walls and what the floor is like.
I have collected some wooden ceiling favorites – and I hope you like them just as much as I do!
