LAST MINUTE: WRAP IT UP

I am always on the look out for some nice gift wrapping ideas, even though I am not always great at following through on those ideas. I still have a few small gifts to wrap up before the big day tomorrow, so here is a last minute wrap inspiration rant. Good to keep around for future birthdays and other events where handing off a gift is happening.

Happy Christmas!

HELLO HOLIDAYS

December is here, and for the first time I am feeling the true urge to throw some holiday decorations around the place. I am blaming the Bean for this urge, it’s his first Christmas and I feel like I want to fill it with some sort of holiday greatness. We’ve also decided to host a small New Years dinner, which is another first for me and the H, so suddenly the holidays has This far all I’ve managed to bring into our home is a tree, throw some decorations on it and call it quits… This is what that project ended up looking like:

The Bean was pleased with the result and celebrated by throwing the decorations around the living room. Still I feel like I am in need of some holiday inspiration, so I turned to my favorite source of inspiration, the visual kind.

MY KINDA HOLIDAY

At least my kinda holiday inspiration… I am not going to share any decorations with you this year, I am keeping it simple and close to non-existent, this is basically because we are heading to Berlin for Christmas. When we get back from Berlin we are heading to my parents for a low-key New Years Eve as well. I am growing a human, so the idea of a big party in the middle of the city just doesn’t tempt me as much as it would if I wasn’t harboring the pea. I am keeping up to par on heating up the house with firewood and lighting candles all around the place though, I am even considering some lights for the outside of the apartment, just to keep up with the neighbors.

Well, anyhow, here is a collection of inspiration reflecting my kinda holiday! Enjoy…

CHRISTMAS INSPIRATION

Ready for Christmas yet? I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus – mostly because of work heaping up… And suddenly I look at the calendar and christmas is right around the corner… This far I’ve managed to pack a couple of gifts and put some baubles out and about around my home… As far as the christmas feeling goes – I’m in need of some inspiration. Tonight me and the H is heading out for some christmas food – hoping it will tip me over and get me into a holiday feel!

Enjoy!

WRAP IT UP

And I’m back! For some reason time seems to pass like lightning these days, may be because of the lack of sunlight – or maybe I’ve just got more on my plate than usual? This year, as every year, I haven’t even had the time to consider what to get friends and family for christmas. I’m getting on it this weekend, I have promised myself that… I love giving gifts, and I try my hardest to make every gift a personal one. Which means I do my best to put as much effort into gathering ideas, hunting for the right thing etc. Then comes the wrapping of the gift. I really enjoy putting a lot of heart into wrapping gifts for people, maybe it is because I am a fan of the aesthetical things in life, maybe it’s because it’s about handing over something personal or maybe it is all about giving myself more things to do when I’m on my week off work? Who knows? Anyways, I have gathered up a bundle of visual aid to help me through the wrapping process this year!

PACIFIC NORTHWEST DREAMING

Autumn has taken over the city we live in – the wind is going wild outside and rain comes and goes by the minute. I must admit this is one of my favorite times of the year – the changing of the seasons. I especially love it when summer slowly moves away and autumn enters with its fresh crisp air and bright colours… Still this is always the time of year when I get excited about next summers holiday! Me and the H have been talking about jumping a flight to the US for quite a vile. But we’ve been a bit lost on the idea of what we want to do when we’re there… Most of the people we know seem to cover the basics like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and some crazy in Las Vegas. We want to see San Francisco and New York, but the others don’t attract us in the same way – we want to check it out at some point – but it is not at the top of the list. We’ve talked a bit about doing the south, to see New Orleans, a bit of Texas and Savannah… But today we made a decision on something completely different – and that is thanks to our desire to check out the Pacific Northwest.

We’ve always talked about wanting to check out Portland and Seattle, and now we’ve had a look around the sea of visual inspiration out there – and we are sold! There is something about the wild nature, the idea of being in a city but with the wildest nature at a hands reach. And the possibility to inhabit a lovely treehouse for a night or two…

So now it is just to start booking tickets when the price is right…

The idea is to start out in San Francisco, then head towards Portland then Seattle – and all that we find interesting in between. Then finding our way to New York by plane before heading back to Norway.

I could try to explain why the idea of moving through the Northwest by using words – but I am as usual finding it way easier to show it through the use of visual input. If anyone out there has any tips and tricks to share about the area – on where to go and what to see – we are fully open and on the hunt for some insider tips. Bring it on!

In my head I am imagining slow days in the one of the tree houses at Treehouse Point, great food and even better coffee in Seattle, going all artsy in Portland, enjoying the sights and the whales at San Juan Islands… I am smitten!

Got any tips?
