One of the things I have to get sorted when the new year hits is a decent workspace at home. I do spend a lot of time editing photos in the evenings, and in January I am starting an online course in Public Law. I have never tried the online study thing, but I have decided to add some sprinkles to my resume while I am having my maternity leave this time around. The course I am doing only runs for one semester, so hopefully I will find the time to do my studying when the Bean is in daycare. I´ve been spending some time hunting the internet for some ideas for my future workspace, and I have narrowed it down to a list of top five office trends/goods I want to try to incorporate into my own space.
THE PEG BOARD
THE FRESH GREENS
THE WIRE MESH
THE WHITE DESK
THE LEATHER CHAIR

We are currently working on a few ideas for our spare room downstairs, one of them being to turn it into our own little work space. If we end up going for office space I really want some white pegboard on the wall, for organizing our work space mess. Ideally I would like desks along an entire wall, wall shelves above it and then pegboard between the desks and the wall shelves. But we’ll just have to see what we end up using the space for, and when we will end up finishing it… Baby bean will be here in just 5 weeks, if everything goes to plan, so I don’t know how home making great I’ll be these next weeks.
Here is some visual pegboard aid, enjoy!
Hello! It has been quite a vile since I had a chance to get a post up… This is mostly because of work – but also because my extra curriculum activities/plans are taking up more and more of my time. One of the plans is tightly connected to my love of photography – and I finally had a chance to bring some new equipment into my home/home-office. I have a list of things to finish off this month, and the getting of new equipment can now be removed from the list – oh the joy. So, new to the family is now the absolutely gorgeous Nikon D600, the amazing Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 & Nikkor 28mm f/1.8. And right now – I feel like I am not in need of much more – those babies are going to keep me happy for years to come – no doubt about it… I’ve spent the two last days doing random test shoots around my town – and I am swooning… The H does not understand what I am going on about – but hey – I don’t understand all of the architect mumbling he brings to the table… Still I engage him in it and let him go on for hours (one of my better girlfriend traits if you ask me) – I find everything interesting – even if I don’t understand it! I’ll add a couple of the test shots in the beginning of the post before I get to the inspiration bit. Today is actually about me having to extend my home office! We have a spare bedroom in the house, or a guest bedroom if you like… But it is not used to the extent that it feels right to leave it with just a bed in it… So we have decided that it will be office space for me, for the periods when I’m not at work… I have a job that means I’ll be away for 2/3 days at a time, but then I come home and I have a week where I am left to my own devices… Being quite a productive soul – who would have thought – I spend a lot of time creating projects for my self.
One of the projects has moved from being a vague dream into becoming more of a goal – and it is making its way into becoming a reality… I’ll get back to you on what that is at a later stage… What this means is that I now wake up at 6 on my days off (when the H is getting ready to head off to work) and make myself work a full day at home – till the H comes back home. I made a nice little work area in our bedroom – but I don’t use it… There is something about the bedroom being used for sleep and relaxation that doesn’t make me want to work in there… So I end up sitting in the livingroom or at the kitchen table doing my research/work. So now I have made it a goal to use the spare room as an office at home – and when we have guests I’ll just avoid my work as much as possible. So from now on I’ll wake up – do a coffee run (to the kitchen nook) and then head to work (less than 2 meters away from the kitchen nook) – this will get me from sleep mode to work mode in no time. At least that is the idea. And the other thing is the fact that there is heaps of space in there – so all my equipment and gear will fit in perfectly!
So let’s get to the visual input! Firstly, here are some shots taken over the last two days (hope it makes you realize why I adore my new gear):
Tipi – taken with D600 50mm f/1.4
Some lovely florals taken with D600 28mm f/2.2
More flowers – this time out and about in the rain, taken with D600 85mm f/1.8
The H in a dome of green taken with D600 28mm f/1.8
Another one of The H – love how the umbrella fades away, taken with D600 85mm f/1.8
A bit of our town taken with D600 28mm f/1.8
If you want to check out more of my images you can do so here. Ps. if you’re on Flickr, add me or give me a shout – always looking for gorgeous photography to drool over!
Now – let’s have some office visual input – here are some of the images that gets me beyond over excited about creating the perfect home office happen! ENJOY!
I absolutely adore the storage solution in this office – I am a storage freak! via
I’ve got the Ferm basket – now I just need the rest of this office… via
I am swooning over that cabinet in the back – the chairs are a given – but that cabinet is going on my to-get-list! via
All I know is that I want a space that is made for me – a place that makes me feel creative and organized at one time… I want bursts of colour but at the same time I want a space that is clean and crisp… I guess all I can do is go out – get inspired – make it my own!
On the top of my at-home-wish-list is a great work space… Preferably one that would fit all of my stuff and all of the stuff belonging to the H. I would love a two connected desks kind of office solution – where I would have my space and he would have his space. If I manage to make this a reality I am quickly going to get myself some great desk organizers or desk tidies if you like. I am a big fan of organizing my space – but at the same time I am a bit of a messy person. So to have some easy on the desk organizing possibilities would be perfect. Here are some personal favorites.
I adore these porcelain desk tidies by Hector Serrano for Seletti.
I also have a huge crush on these big pencil sharpener desk tidies from Not On The High Street.
These great office accessories are from THINKK Studio – why not keep your pencils or paper clips in a lovely tiny truck?
If I end up in a very feminine mood on the day I decide to get my lovely desk tidy – I might just end up with this cup one from Black + Blum.
These lovely desktop tidies are from KarolineFelixDream. Just realizing my parents have a tiny ton of wood lying around – maybe a DIY tingle is coming on?
This is another favorite of mine – the Shuffle Desk Tidy by RALLI Design. You can get them in both white and black right here! This can also work as a general organizer all over the house – for beauty items, jewelry, everything in your hallway lacking a special spot… I could use 2 in my bedroom, 1 for my bathroom, 1 for my desk and 1 for my kitchen – should I feel a sensation of excess or a sensation of organizational skills?
Another personal favorite right here… The Skyline Desk Organizer by Threadsence. Simply perfection if you ask me – crossing my fingers right now – hoping they ship to Norway!
I’ll end it all with these lovely desk organizing items in copper by the amazing Ferm Living.

I know I have been on this one before – great work spaces at home. But it really sticks to me – it is the most important change I want to do in my home. I desperately need a work space here. . . I just do not know how to fit it in – but I need to make it work. Right now my entire home is filled to the top with all the stuff I should be organizing in my work space. I’ve got sketch books and journals all over the house, pens and pencils scattered about, my camera and its lens friends are not connected. . . Most of my work (at home) is done in the sofa or the bed – my back is hating me… I’ve collected some inspiration – and some must for my work space – and some of it is right here.
I want my workspace to be simplistic and inspiring. I love the hands – I feel like they are pretty close to a must right now.
I love the use of hangers as magazine holders – great way to keep the magazines I have to read away from the floor and the magazine piles around the house.
This space is pretty close to perfect – but I am feeling a bit angsty about the floor – it looks like a wall-to-wall carpet… I am not a wall-to-wall carpet kinda girl… Reminds me of a horrible toilet in a Oxford cabin – no more words needed.
I want cool stationary – I want to get back to writing letters/notes/words of goodness to the people I love. Much more charming than an email or a text.
I want the wall in my work space to be my mood board… Sit down – get inspired – work!
I feel like every home needs Uten.Silo – especially every home I inhabit! I want the white one – of course – and it has a 6-8 week wait – and costs over 200 quid… My student mentality is telling me “200 quid for plastic storage – really?” – my I-want-it mentality is telling me “go ahead – look at it – it is perfect – it would make your space better – it is sexy – you deserve it”… Then there is the mentality in the middle – which tells me to wait till I can actually truly defend the purchase. Crossing my fingers I won’t have to wait too long for it.
I would love a work space that could fit both me and the H – because I know we would be fighting over the space… We would be doing our best to be the “first-one-up” in the morning to claim the work space. Since we are both somewhat workaholics – I know – amazing trait to share…
I want some nice stamp sets – just because I would love to use stamps again – haven’t used one since primary school! And there are so many good stamps out there – that deserve a good home – and someone to care for them and use them… They do deserve to live with me.
Loving the desk, loving the books, loving the wall – loving BODIE and FOU…
I want storage space! I love a bit of creative mess – and I do love to display the things that inspire me – but I do hate unconstructive mess – and certain things I just don’t want to see on a daily basis… I need storage space – it is not a want – it is a must.
If we had an entire room to set aside as work space – I wouldn’t mind making space for a drawing table for the H. I love looking at his hand drawn sketches – architecture amazes me – and I would actually love to frame some of his sketches. We will just have to see if he would let me…
