HOME ENVY: APARTMENT OF DREAMS

I have been hiding under my covers these last week couple of weeks, firstly because I am super pregnant, combine that with a massive cold and The Trump having his first week in office… Well there you have it,  a  classic cocktail for disaster. I just reached 40 weeks of pregnancy, the baby seems more comfortable inside than out, who could blame him? I have the hormone levels of a…. Well, I have the hormon levels of a woman 40 weeks pregnant with a cold that won’t go away…. Tears are a daily happening over here! To top it all off, I decided that this pregnancy around I would add some extra bedazzlement to my degree, so I just started my course in Public Law. I am hoping I will be able to look back at that decision with the mantra “good decision M, perfect timing to do a little bit more!”

In the midst of all this all I want to do is move! It’s the nester in me, nesting mode came a bit later this time around, which has saved me a lot of work to do in week 40… Maybe it’s a good thing this little one wants to stay in the warmth of my belly? We have prepared, as much as possible; he’s got babywear lined up, the new stroller is in-house, the bed is ready… But for some reason me wanting to move – and start a full on renovation project in the start of week 40, is really a thing! Good to know that I have been ripped of all sense of logic. Still I am out there, hunting for future home inspiration, and this amazing apartment up for grabs is the perfect inspiration these days… I am dreaming of a house, but there is so much greatness to take from this one. It is light, airy, modern and cozy – all mixed into one lovely space. Enjoy!

THE WHITE FLOORS

One of my long-lasting-never-ending-interior-loves must be great white floors. I have decided to make a line-up of floor related posts, focusing on different floor colors I love and crave, and who better to kick it all off than white?

We currently have light grey floors going through our apartment, they are bordering on white, but not nearly as bright as the ones listed below. One of the best aspects of daring to go all out and paint your floors in a bright white is the light effect you´re left with. It brightens up a room like nothing else, at the same time it works as a perfect backdrop for anything. You can go in any direction with your wall color, your furniture and everything else you choose to add to your space. No matter what you choose to combine it with, you´re kinda on to a winner in my eyes. Personally, I love a minimalistic backdrop, either combining white floors with the same tone of white walls, or different shades of grey all the way down the scale to black. So in the images below I have focused on white floors combined with white walls, as the perfect backdrop to just about anything. Enjoy!

THE IVAR CABINET

On the home front our current project at hand is creating The Bean a space of his own, and on the top of my to get list right now is the Ivar cabinet from Ikea. I want to use this as a combined toy/clothes storage for the little one. I have been in love with these cabinets for quite some time, but have never found a good space to add them to in our apartment. Since The Bean needs to have a crossover space, it needs to work as a bedroom space for him at night and a sort of extension of the living room in the day time. Basically as a play space for the small ones now that we are having two little critters that needs floor space for exploring. To be honest, I am also in dire need for storage for all of his toys! Just need them to have a place of their own, preferably behind closed doors. Seems like me and Ivar will have a great relationship!

I love the cabinet in its natural state, the lovely wood will work perfectly in just about every space, with any color. At the same time, I am pretty impressed by the creativity some people have put into their own cabinets. Creating murals, adding graphic patterns and bright colors. Maybe if I go off the deep end, we will be sporting something out of the ordinary here as well – most likely not. Simplicity is my friend! Enjoy some inspiration I have found along the way, as I go back to hunting for more ideas for the new baby space.

HOME ENVY

Today I want to share the home of the guys who started up the Swedish vintage shop Dusty Deco. I adore everything about this home – this home is filled with uncountable vintage treasures. Wish my home had a pinch of this reclaimed beauty.

HOME ENVY

It’s been a couple of days with no posts here – and I am sorry about that… Been a bit busy – my focus has been somewhere else – I will tell you more about that in some future post. Back to the home envy! Today I want to share the beautiful home of the norwegian ceramic and interior stylist designer Silje Aune EriksenHer home has been showed in the norwegian edition of Elle Decoration. There is absolutely nothing I do not like about this home. It might just be the perfect living space – besides – I would need a bigger bed. I especially love the pops of neon – brightens up the home.

HOME ENVY

Today I feel like sharing one of my home envy posts with you guys… And today I will share the lovely home of the talented stylist Susanna Vento. I came across this home ages ago – in a copy of Elle Decoration – don’t remember if it was the Norwegian, Swedish or British edition though – kinda make my way through them all every month. The point is – this lovely black and white heaven of a home has stuck on my mind since. If it is the Scandinavian simplicity or my sheer love for black and white that is the reason for this sticking for so many months I do not know – and I do not care – all I know is that I adore this abode.

There is something about the combination of a simplistic black and white backdrop combined with colorful focal points – like artwork, lamp cords etc. Hope you enjoy this space as much as I have!
